Every spring, students are given information about courses available for the following year and have the opportunity to make course selections through PowerSchool. When selecting high school courses, consider:
Graduation requirements
Graduating with honours
Post-secondary admission requirements (both general entry and specific program)
Scholarship requirements
Your interests and strengths
What courses should you take to support your goals?
Red River Technical Vocational Area (RRTVA)
Students usually are registered in RRTVA programs for grades 10, 11, & 12, but still are required to complete their compulsory courses required by the MB government for graduation. The students take all of their required courses in one semester and then take the RRTVA program in the other semester. At Morris School, students can typically apply for programs as follows:
Grades 10-12: culinary arts, esthetics, hairstyling
Grades 11-12: auto body, automotive technology, carpentry, electrical technology, heavy duty equipment technology, welding
Grade 12: health care aide
High School Apprenticeship Program (HSAP)
The High School Apprenticeship Program (HSAP) allows students in high school the opportunity to explore and pursue trades training.
