Lincoln Middle School’s counseling department is committed to implementing a comprehensive guidance and support program designed to serve all students. The counselors work closely with parents, staff, and administrators to ensure that effective strategies are employed to meet student success and achievement.
Counseling Goals
The counselors at Lincoln Middle School will:
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive counseling program focused on the physical, social, intellectual, emotional and vocational growth of the students based on the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) Standards
2. Coordinate activities in the counseling program.
3. Provide individual and small group counseling.
4. Provide information related to the developmental and psychosocial needs of middle school students.
5. Facilitate counseling activities for students, staff, and parents.
6. Serve as a consultant to the school and community.
7. Uphold the standards of the counseling profession (American School Counseling Association and American Counseling Association Standards Code of Ethics).
Expected Student Outcomes
Students will have the opportunities to:
1. Develop a sense of belonging in the school setting and an appreciation of educational opportunities available in this learning environment.
2. Learn to balance the need for being a student and a social being.
3. Begin to develop an understanding of how personal goals can influence decisions. 4. Acquire interpersonal and academic skills needed for life.
5. Participate in counseling activities that support personal growth and maturation.
6. Practice interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to enhance effective communication with others.
Confidentiality
● Information discussed the counselors is private unless it needs
to be shared to support the educational success of students or prevent danger
to self or others.
● Counseling records are kept electronically and may be viewed by other school counselors or administrators.
● Information that requires parent and/or administration involvement includes: harm to self or others, breaking school policies, or property destruction.
● Counselors will make every effort to let students know of the appropriate source (s) that need to be contacted.
● School Counselors primary responsibility is to our students, but we also acknowledge parents' rights to be informed.

○ Classroom and school-wide presentations will be made on a variety of counseling topics upon request of teachers or administration. Such topics have included Trauma Informed Instruction, Sexual Harassment, Anti-Bullying, Life/Coping Skills, Grief/Loss, Career Assessment, Cyber Safety, Supporting a Growth Mindset,
Regulatory Skills Building, Healthy LifeStyle, Conflict Resolution, and
Signs of Suicide.

504 Coordinator Duties
● Schedule and run all individual student 504 meetings
● Distribute student 504 plans to teachers
