Weeklu Update 08/17/2025
Hello Families!
What a fantastic week we have had! This week, we have focused on getting to know our students, establishing a daily schedule, and having the students learn our expectations for the SAFE program.
The SAFE program follows the expectations most classrooms have. We lead with being kind to one another, keeping our hands, feet and objects to ourselves, not running in the hallways or inside the cafeteria, keeping our feet on the floor, and that we must share games/toys in the SAFE program. We also explain that we cannot share snacks with one another or have spicy/hot snacks in SAFE and a reminder of no personal toys or electronic devices are allowed during school or the SAFE program.
This school year, we have developed a schedule based on daily rotations by grade levels and time. We have divided our students into a K-1 group, led by Ms. Dana with Ms. Makayla, a 2-3 group, led by Ms. Liana with Mr. Tanner, and a 4-5 group, led by Ms. Haley with Ms. Alex and Ms. Stephanie. Each group has a set time in the mornings in the cafeteria, gym, or playground, and groups switching to another location before all coming back together for breakfast at 8:30am. For afternoon sessions, students are received in the cafeteria, given a snack and restroom break before relocating as a group to the SAFE portable by about 4:30pm. From 4:30pm until about 4:50pm, students have homework/reading time for about 20 minutes. Then, students are again separated into grade level groups, taken to the playground, portable time, or playing outside the portable for about 15 minutes. Students are then given a choice of either playing outside the portable or playing games/art inside the portable. Eventually, we will add other options to our choice times. We are doing this type of schedule so students can get to know one another at their grade levels better, learn from our SAFE staff, and to help have better social/emotional regulations. We are aware that a few students are not completely happy with our schedule, but we feel this can help improve the experiences for our students. Fridays are what we call Free Friday, the morning sessions will still have a schedule. On Friday afternoons, students will be given choices of games, art and crafts, or playing outside. Please note, because there can be a bad weather outlook, scheduling may be adjusted to indoor playtimes. also, will occasionally have days where groups are not divided, and it will be a group activity for all to participate in.
REMINDERS
The SAFE program does not offer weekly payment plans this year. All payments are quarterly and must be paid in full as soon as possible. We can set up a payment plan, but this must be done with an email to set specific details and time frames. PLEASE EMAIL christie.reynolds@rrps.net if you need to set up a payment plan. This will have to occur EACH NINE WEEK period. There is a late payment fee of $25 per week, per student if arrangements or payments are not made.
Please do not allow your student to bring personal toys, other than playground balls, soccer balls, or basketballs to school. These items are not allowed. We do understand if a student needs a comforter or a fidget, but please know we do ask students to put these items in their backpacks BEFORE leaving the cafeteria. SAFE is not responsible for lost/stolen items. Electronic devices are not permitted to be used during school or SAFE. These items include but are not limited to cell phones, tablets, laptops, smart watches, etc. If a student needs the item after school, the item MUST REMAIN IN THEIR BACKPACK TURNED OFF/SILENT.
Drop off for the SAFE program ends at 8:45AM. Please have your students into program before this time. Afternoon pick up begins at 4:15pm in the cafeteria BEFORE students are moved to the portable at 4:30PM. If we are transitioning students, please meet us at the SAFE portable. The SAFE program ends at 6:00PM, there is a $25 late pick-up fee per student for every 10 minutes late beginning at 6:01pm. For example, if you pick up your student at 6:10pm, you will receive a late pick-up fee of $25. If you pick up your student at 6:35pm, you will receive a late pick-up fee of $75. DO NOT ENTER THE BUS LOT UNTIL ALL BUSES HAVE DEPARTED.
If your student will be absent for the day, please make sure you call the attendance line for every day the student is absent.
Please make sure your student’s teacher is aware of your student’s dismissal schedule. This ensures that students are in the right places. If your student is not attending the SAFE program and normally does, PLEASE email us and let us know. This will lessen any confusion as to where a student will need to be at dismissal time. For example, if your student will be riding the bus home on Tuesday and Friday, but attending SAFE Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, the SAFE staff will look for said student Monday, Wednesday, and Friday if they are not in the program by 4pm. This will possibly delay bus departures as we will actively look for the student immediately. We do work with the school to ensure students are where they need to be at dismissal time.
Next week, students will be learning about our “SAFE” bucks program. SAFE bucks are the reward system we use with the students. They can save up and trade them once a week, generally on Fridays. We have different levels of prize boxes so that our students can save up their SAFE bucks to trade for a prize. Thank you for sharing your favorite people with us, they are all amazing!
