Hey kiddos! It's Mrs. Ford! I hope you're ready for a little bit of educational music fun! I have missed you guys so much! We can't see each other to make the music together, but I have included lessons that will review and/or expand your musical knowledge along with some websites and links. I will continue to add them as I find them!
If you have any questions along the way or notice any problems with the links, etc. you can email me at forda.mann@rrgsd.org.
This is the last week of classes for you guys!!
I'm leaving all the activities below for your continued musical growth. :)
To all my Kindergarten, First, Second, Third, and Fourth graders: I hope you have a wonderful summer and I'll definitely be ready to see you when the new school year begins!!
To my 5th graders: I'm sorry to see you go and wish I had, had more time with you this year! It's was truly a fabulous time! (Love you Holden Ford, my son!) It was a cool experience to get to know you all before your journey to middle school!

CHECK THIS OUT!!!! A Concert and Weekly Lessons!!!
The NC Symphony has provided a youtube Virtual Student Concert from this school year's Student Concert with their director of education, Jason Spencer!! It's never been recorded for us before! I have been provided access to the concert and there will be lessons as well. Here is the concert youtube!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TDimySZZU4&feature=youtu.be
It's 33 minutes long and Mr. Spencer tells a little about each song and asks you to listen and think about a musical element we have used in music class each week this year! If you want to watch one song a day or watch the whole concert over and over again, it's totally up to you! There's even a song to learn to sing along with them that you can play over and over to learn the words and sing along! I'm so excited that we get an opportunity to see it!
There will be new lessons to go with the songs each week of the school year provided by the NC Symphony!!! Please go to www.ncsymphony.org and then click EDUCATION. Enter the PASSWORD: 1932 and see and use the new lesson provided each week! This wonderful and never before shared like this with the public!!!! We are so fortunate!!! :) Thank you NC Symphony!!!

EARTH DAY was April 22, 2020! What a great time to use paper plates and other containers and recyclables to create musical sounds and rhythm pieces! I've listed some paper plate activities that can be done, but really anything you boom, shake, scrape, or tap that you find can be used to make instruments! Things you find around the house to use as instruments are called FOUND SOUND INSTRUMENTS!!
PAPER PLATES as INSTRUMENTS!!!
There are lots of coordination songs out there with Paper Plates that can be found around your house as a musical instrument. The plates are used for feeling the beat and also feeling how the song is going for the first to the second to the third part called the FORM of the song. In this piece called Paper Plate Song, the music teacher helps students feel the music also moving to high and low sounds too! So go find two paper plates and have fun!

This piece is being performed by Erin Marcks. She does many other pieces in her music class that students can mimic and practice. Look her up on youtube!
