In North Carolina, teachers must earned Continuing Education Units (or CEUs) to renew their professional teaching license. Licenses renew every 5 years, and teachers must earn 80 clock hours (or 8 CEU credits) each cycle in order to be eligible to renew. RRGSD supports teachers in this process by offering professional development sessions each year on a variety of topics, including content support, pedagogical strategies, classroom management, digital and blended learning, and social-emotional learning. These sessions are usually provided on the locally-approved mandatory workdays that are designated for professional development. Credit is issued by the Instructional Services division, in cooperation with the Human Resources department.
