Chaloner PLC Schedule

4 a. Professional Development/Learning Communities: The principal ensures that the school is a professional learning community.

PLC schedule was created and shared to ensure teachers have time set aside to meet, collaborate, and discuss data and instruction.

4 b. Recruiting, Hiring, Placing and Mentoring of staff: The school executive establishes processes and systems in order to ensure a high-quality, high-performing staff.

Working closely with our district Public Information Officer, Candi Horton and I created a recruitment video to highlight our district for potential new employees. We also created flyers to highlight our own school with specific details about working at the school.

As we interviewed different candidates through the school year, we realized the questions we were asking were not always relevant and needed to be updated, I created a new set of questions for interviews with a rating scale for each question.

4 c. Teacher and Staff Evaluation: The principal evaluates teachers and other staff in a fair and equitable manner with the focus on improving performance and, thus, student achievement.

We created an observation schedule to ensure each administrator observed different teachers within the different observation cycles. Throughout the year, I conducted 33 observations of teachers in different cycles of their teaching careers. When conducting the observations, I utilized the rubrics created through NCEES for each Standard to ensure teachers were objectively observed. The Blooms Taxonomy was utilized to determine the depth of instruction. Pre and Post Observation questions were utilized in discussions with teachers before and after observations.
