Please make sure to check your email throughout the school year. I will send an email at the beginning of each week with a classroom newsletter. This newsletter will provide information about what we will be learning in class, important dates for the week, and our weekly homework. I will also send email blasts with important reminders periodically throughout the year as needed.
Your child will record their homework and important events in their student planner each week. I may write notes or reminders in your child's planner as well. Students will be required to bring their planner home each night to show their parents. We ask that parents initial their child's planner each night and that students bring their planner back to school the next day. Planners will be checked at school on a daily basis. If you would like to write a quick note for your child or myself please feel free to use your child's planner as needed.
If you would like to reach me by phone my school extension is x5328. I may make phone calls throughout the year as needed to share student successes and stories from the school day. Please feel free to contact me by phone if needed. You can email me to schedule a phone call as well. The Kensington Office staff can be contacted during the school day at (440) 356-6770.
Fundations: at the beginning of each week students will bring home a Fundations homework packet. This packet covers materials we will be learning throughout the week and is not due until the end of the week. If your child needs assistance with Fundations homework please have them bring their packet in early and ask for assistance. You can also write a note or send me an email so I can go over the assignment with them if needed.
Reading: students will bring home reading homework throughout the school year. The homework pages include fluency practice and reading logs. Please check your child's planner each week for information about reading homework and due dates. All reading homework will be reviewed in class before being sent home. If your child needs assistance with their homework please have them bring their assignment into class and ask for assistance before turning it in. You can also write a note or send me an email so I can go over the assignment with them if needed.
Math: students will bring home a math worksheet most nights to complete for homework. The worksheet will review concepts taught in class and may be one-sided or two-sided. Math worksheets are due back in class the next day. Please always check student planners and our weekly newsletter for homework due dates. Again, if assistance is needed please send me a note or have your child ask for help in the morning before turning in their assignment.
Science & Social Studies: students may periodically have Science and Social Studies homework to complete. Please make sure to check student planners for specific details and due dates.
Please inform me through email if you plan to send in treats for the class on your child’s birthday. We highly encourage that birthday treats be non-food items such as stickers, pencils, erasers, etc. If you are sending in treats, they must be store bought and individually wrapped. Due to allergy concerns please read labels carefully to avoid treats that contain peanuts or peanut products. We are a nut free classroom. We will send treats home with students at the end of the day. We have 24 students in our class this year.
Each child will receive a small birthday bag from me on their special day. I look forward to celebrating your child's birthday with them during the school year. Any summer birthdays can choose a date to celebrate or I will give them their bags during the last week of school. Thank you!
