AP Self Study
Only seniors are eligible to register for AP exams as self-study candidates due to testing space and proctoring guidelines. Seniors planning to self-study for an AP exam must submit a formal study plan to the Director of Guidance. This plan should outline a structured study program, such as participation in an online course or instruction at a learning center.
The Director of Guidance will review the study plan with the department supervisor, and both must approve it before the student is permitted to register for the exam. Self-study registration is limited to AP exams offered at RHS during the current school year.
Students must adhere to all registration deadlines and pay the required fees in full. Late registrations will not be accepted.
Exceptions to these guidelines include AP Chinese, AP Japanese, AP German, and AP Italian, which are offered on an alternating-year schedule.
Please understand the self-study option will not count for high school credit or appear on the transcript.
AP World Language Self-Study Courses Not Offered at RHS
Students who would like to take the self-study option in an AP World Language course that is not offered at RHS, will have the opportunity to do so every other year beginning in 2021. These courses include Japanese, Chinese, German and Italian.
