Time to return all books to the library!
Students may earn up to two hours of community service for pitching a library display idea that we use.
Share your idea on a Google Doc and include details for how the display will work.
Include an interactive activity and create the interactive component.
To earn an additional (3rd) hour of community service, students can bring their idea to life by setting it up in the LC.
Students may earn one hour of community service by writing a book review for a book in the RHS book collection. Click HERE to access the book evaluation form.
The library has Bluetooth and plug-in headphones available for students to borrow.
Headphones must be returned to the school library before the school day ends. Students may not bring the headphones home. Students who do not return headphones may not borrow more headphones. Students will be charged for lost or damaged headphones (Bluetooth headphones cost $150 and plug-in headphones cost $25).
Students need to complete a headphone agreement every time they borrow headphones.
The Learning Commons is a space reserved for students and staff to work quietly.
Students who need a quiet place to concentrate, or those in need of a computer, are welcome to use the space with a SmartPass sent by their scheduled classroom teacher.
Students working on small group projects are also welcome to use the space to collaborate with their group, conduct interviews, or record podcasts and/or videos, providing all members of the group have a SmartPass sent by their scheduled classroom teacher.
Students enrolled in special programs such as career development or PLPs are welcome to use the LC as long as they have a SmartPass from their program advisor.
If students finish classwork early, they are welcome to briefly visit the Learning Commons to borrow a book from the library, but should then return to their scheduled class with that book. Please do not send students to the Learning Commons to hang out if they finish their classwork early because that can be disruptive to those who use the space for quiet work.
Students coming from class to do work should not bring cellphones with them to the LC. Cellphones should remain in classroom lockboxes; students should return to their scheduled class before the end of the period to collect their cellphones. Students who arrive at the LC with their cellphones will be sent back to the classroom to store their cellphones.
There are times when the College, Career, and External Learning Opportunities coordinators hold events in the Learning Commons, and during those events students and staff using the Learning Commons for quiet study should expect increased noise and activity or temporary closure of the Learning Commons for the event.
Eating is not permitted in the Learning Commons at any time.
Lunch Sign Up
The Learning Commons will not open for lunch.
SmartPass
Teachers may send a small number of students to the Learning Commons with a SmartPass to do work during the period for which the student is scheduled to be with that teacher. Guidance counselors and administrators may also send students to the Learning Commons with a SmartPass. Students who arrive with a handwritten pass or without a pass will be sent back to the classroom. If SmartPass is unavailable please call x51297 to notify library staff to expect a particular student.
Teachers who are being paid to do sub coverage for a class or who are the classroom based Early College teacher should not send students to the Learning Commons.
Substitute teachers should not send students to the Learning Commons.
The Learning Commons quiet study space is closed to students during Patriot Block, so please do not send students to the LC during Patriot Block.
