Quizzes will be given throughout the chapter to give you a chance to practice for the Activity Tests, Unit Tests, and Interim Tests.
Tests will be given at the end of each section. For tests given at the end of each unit , we will dedicate ample time the day before for questions and review.
Test corrections are offered for failing test scores. New scores will be averaged with previous scores for a final score. Students must show that they have reviewed their mistakes by completing a reflection sheet. All test corrections must be completed within 5 days from receipt of the original assessment.
A final exam will be a comprehensive test given at the end of each semester (no re-takes).
Please note that tests are individual assignments and are not to be worked on collaboratively with others. When students finish, they must remain quiet to give fellow classmates the opportunity to finish their tests.
One way to obtain a bonus: When ALL class members are on time and present for scheduled tests.
If you choose not to leave the classroom for any personal reason, you earn 3 bonus points. There are 3 of those per grading period. Not using all 3 adds an extra point making it a total of 10 bonus points.
Some of the requested classroom items are listed in Mrs. Carlisle's Amazon Classroom Wishlist.
Homework will be given daily and due the following school day. It is important that you attempt each problem. The exercises do not all have to be correct –in the learning process you will not get all the exercises right the first time- but you must show that you made a reasonable attempt to answer every assigned exercise. You will have an opportunity to ask questions from the homework the following day. At that time, you should make corrections. Please be sure that you come prepared with a question and not just requesting the answers to the homework assignments. Credit will be given based on completeness and correctness. Late work is accepted with a 5% grade decrease daily and will be due within 5 days from said due date. If your work is expected to be submitted online, be on time.

Students are expected to attend school every day and arrive on time.
It is the student’s responsibility to contact me before/during/after an absence to inquire about any make-up work, quizzes, tests, etc. that you may have missed during an excused absence.
If YOU do not do this, YOU will receive a zero!
Daily assignments are usually posted daily. If you are absent or do not have your work, the grade for that assignment is input as a zero, along with being flagged as missing and absent.
Quiz and tests grades are posted once those are graded. Again, if you are absent or refuse to complete either, the grade for the quiz or test is input as a zero.
Grade Weights
Classwork/Homework 20%
Quizzes 20%
Tests 60%
All unauthorized electronic devices (phones, iPod, etc..) should not be visible and are not allowed to be used during class time. Students will not have earbuds or headphones in during class instruction or during exams, except for the hearing of this class’s lesson on video. Refusal to follow this policy will result in a referral. Unauthorized electronic device use during assessments will result in a zero & a referral.
You must be in the classroom, ready to work when the tardy bell rings. If you are still in the doorway or outside classroom when the tardy bell rings, you are tardy. This is an unexcused tardy.
1st offense: Marked tardy; remind student to be on time.
2nd offense: Marked tardy; contact caregiver; issue lunch detention
3rd+ offenses: Marked tardy; Write up to the office
IF a teacher or other adult on campus keeps you from getting to class, that adult must give you a hall pass for an excused tardy. Do not expect Mrs. Carlisle to stop her time with your class to communicate with another adult about your lateness to class.
All students must abide by the academic honor code. For those students taking this course virtually, be mindful of the honor code. You will not receive the same test as those in the classroom.
(Last part of the syllabus to be signed and turned in.)
I (student name) will not give nor receive aid in examinations. I will not give nor receive unpermitted aid in class work, in the preparation of projects or in any work that is to be used by the instructor as the basis of grading. I will do my share and take an active part in seeing to it that others as well as myself uphold the spirit and letter of this academic honor code. WIN HONOR AND WIN FAME!
The last page is the acknowledgement page and Honor code for the course. That is the only page that needs to be signed and returned to Mrs. Carlisle.
