Missy Mills

Hello! Missy Mills from Monaco Middle School here! How's that for some alliteration? I am currently a learning strategist and ELA department chair, and I am passionate about designing curriculum and coaching educators. I have been teaching in Title 1 schools for 10 years, but my roots are in the non-profit sector where I began mentoring pregnant and parenting teens in Milwaukee Public Schools as an outreach coordinator. I was an at-risk student myself, and my heart has always been in education reform. I shine the brightest light on students who have fallen in the cracks and who need to be seen, and I believe that our most precious resource is the young people we serve. I attended Alverno Women's College where I obtained my BA in English and Secondary Education, and have recently earned my MS in Curriculum & Instruction and ELAD endorsement. My long-term career goal has always been to work with new teachers at the collegiate level, and I am excited to venture outside of my classroom walls into the world of professional development as I get closer to that goal. This is my first time presenting at a conference, and I am thrilled to be here. Being in education has been the adventure of a lifetime!
