Roy Martin Middle School, home of the Colts, is located in the heart of Las Vegas, Nevada. It was opened in 1959 and has a rich history with deep roots. Over the course of its history, Martin has been selected as a gold-star school, represented Nevada in the United States Secretary of Education's Secondary School recognition program, has earned International Baccalaureate (IB) World School authorization, gained designation as a High Achieving School for closing achievement gaps between subgroups, earned recognition by the Magnet Schools of America as one of 50 "Schools of Distinction" on three different occasions, and even earned the designation as a School of Excellence by the Magnet Schools of America. The original building was heavily damaged by a fire in July of 2005. In April of 2009, a new facility comprised of a two-story main classroom building, fine arts building, gymnasium, administrative & library building, and cafeteria was dedicated.
