What are the hours of the conference?

The hours of the conference are as follows:  

Friday, May 3, 2024 - Virtually 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. 

Saturday, May 4, 2024 - In-person at Roy Martin Middle School 8 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Registration begins at 7:15 a.m.  Parking will be limited, so come early.

Do I need to have my camera on during the virtual portion on Friday?

Yes, participants are expected to have cameras on during the welcome and both breakout sessions during the virtual portion of the conference on Friday.

Do I need to bring a Chromebook/laptop with me on Saturday?

Some presenters have specifically requested that participants come to their session with a Chromebook/laptop for the best experience.  Be sure to check the session schedule to see if your session presenter has made such a request.

When will session sign-up open?

Signing up for sessions in advance ensures a meaningful learning experience by attending the sessions you want to attend.  Session sign-up will be completed at the time of initial conference registration. 

What is included in the conference registration fee?

Your registration fee includes all conference sessions and programs.  It does not include meals or other expenses.

Is there a single-day registration option?

We do not offer a single-day registration option.  As one of the goals of the conference is to foster connections, we encourage all attendees to take part in both days of the full conference (Friday evening and Saturday).

Does this conference relate to the Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS)?

Yes, the Literacy Conference is specifically focused on supporting literacy education in ways that align with and emphasize the Nevada Academic Content Standards for grades K-12.  

What is the suggestion for dress on Saturday?

The dress code is business casual.  Please dress comfortably and bring layers.  Temperatures can vary, so wearing layers can ensure you are not too hot or too cold.

What do I need to bring with me?

You may want to bring materials to take notes.  Depending on your style of learning and the sessions you select, you may need to bring a laptop or Chromebook. If you don't plan to purchase breakfast or lunch from one of the food trucks on site, you will need to bring food and beverages with you.

Will wifi be available on Saturday at Roy Martin?

Yes.

Where can I park on Saturday?

Parking is limited, so participants are encouraged to carpool.  Participants can park at Sunrise Elementary School, Roy Martin Middle School, along 28th Street, or along Sunrise Avenue.

Can I bring my children?

No.  We do not have any child care on site.  Most of the sessions will be full, so we ask that you not bring your children to the conference.
