Driven by the desire to create an enjoyable experience that provides unique, individualized training for actors, August Roy began building Roy Sound Action in 2018. By combining the diverse modalities of Pilates, linguistics, Laban Movement Techniques and manual therapy techniques, Roy Sound Action can bring practical and effective alternatives to difficult and complex obstacles actors face. Since then, the business has expanded to include assistance to independent authors with their books, both written and narrated.
Areas of service include:
dialect design and coaching
physical fitness for efficient and healthful habits
body awareness and movement confidence
public speaking training
acting coaching
stage combat assistance
assistance to writers (novel, speech, script, business, journal, etc)
voice overs and audiobook narration
All sessions are tailored to individual requirements, even among group classes.
With a background in theatre and science, August Roy wants to bridge the gap between hard work and play. Her passion is for linguistics, specializing in dialects for performance. Through her previous acting career, she was introduced to stage combat, and began to work with actors to recover faster from injuries, and to prevent any future pain or dysfunction. Currently working as an author, narrator and freelance dialect designer in Northwest Kansas and Southwest Nebraska, she has also worked with authors across the continent to achieve writing and audiobook goals, and has published fiction under a pen name.
A special note: I'm a linguist, author, and narrator. I do not believe in gatekeeping tools or knowledge for lack of funds. If you would like to support my continued efforts, please see my Buy Me A Coffee page. Each contribution helps me continue to offer support to creatives in my community. Thank you!
