The Ulster District E Cross Country event was held at Necarne Castle on the 26th January, with 28 Royal School Cavan students braving the cold wintry elements to compete. In a change up to the 'usual' running schedule, the senior girls and boys were sent out first and this is where Royal School Cavan had it's major success on the day. In the senior girls category, Charlotte Moore fought off stiff competition from her sister Olivia to come home in first place with Olivia securing second place to complete a fantastic 1-2. The third team member, Ava Nesbitt, came home in a brilliant 10th place to secure 1st placed team overall which was more than enough to secure the team at the Ulster Provincials later in the season.
Furthermore Byron Magee & Daniel Allison turned in two excellent performances in both the Junior & Intermediate categories respectfully, with Byron's 9th place finish also securing him a place at the Ulster Provincials.

The first meet of the Cross-Country season took place in Oldcastle, Co. Meath on the 8th October. In an extremely well-run event, RSC had some excellent performances across several different age events. Charlotte Moore placed an excellent 3rd in the intermediate girls’ race, while Barry Stratford placed 3rd in the senior boys’ race. The senior boys won the team category as brilliant runs from Kelvin McNally, Craig Ebbitt, Daniel Stratford & Thomas Smith, coupled with Barry Stratford’s 3rd place finish, gave them gold on the day.
The second event of the year took place in Killinkere on the 22nd October. Again, it was the senior boys who were the cream of the crop as they finished first again in the overall team standings. All runners had impressive outings, especially Barry Stratford who came in second and Ben Reilly who came 5th overall in his first run of the year.
