This video was created as part of our entry towards Oxford Uehiro’s Practical Ethics and Responsibility Competition, which invites students to explore a contentious ethical problem and explain how responsibility is involved. We chose to argue in favour of not holding doctors responsible for the euthanasia of very ill patients. Euthanasia is a complex ethical issue with profound implications in medicine, and our argument in favour of not holding doctors responsible is grounded in a careful analysis of the ethical principles involved. We hope to earn the chance to present our argument in the upcoming Festival of Arguments, an opportunity to debate with the top 4 secondary school finalists, and present our argument showcased in this video.
