Ron Standridge

1974

Ron Standridge, Class of 1974, has the great distinction of being one of eight Roxbury wrestlers to win an individual state title. Standridge went on to achieve that feat as a senior in 1974, when he won the 148 pound state championship at Princeton’s Jadwin Gym to cap off a 23-0 season. Standridge also started on a pair of Iron Area Conference football championship teams in 1972 and 1973. After wrestling at the Division 1 level at Clarion State, Ron returned to Roxbury as the athletic director in the 1990s, where he started a renaissance in Gaels athletic success that has lasted until today.

KEVIN SPITZER

1982

Kevin Spitzer, Class of 1982, was a 2-way starter for the 1982 football team. During his time in Roxbury, he accumulated numerous All-conference, All-county, All-area accolades and ended his high school career as an All-State honoree and also represented Roxbury in the NJ North-South All-Star game. Kevin went on to play guard and center and Rutgers University earning 2 letters and graduating with a degree in Business Economics.  Kevin then moved back to Roxbury where he and his wife Barbara raised their children who were heavily involved in Roxbury athletics and extracurricular programs. 

Doug Miller

1987

Doug Miller, Class of 1987, was a four year varsity letter winner in soccer from 1983 - 1986.  Doug earned a full scholarship to play soccer for Loyola College where he would go on to become captain in his Junior and Senior years. In 1990 Doug was named the MAAC Conference player of the year.   Upon the completion of college, Doug’s dream of playing soccer professionally became a reality. In 1991, the Kansas City Comets of Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) selected Miller with the first pick in the MISL draft. Doug played two seasons in the MISL before transitioning to the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) 1992 where he would go on to win the NPSL championship in 1994 and 1996. In 1996, the expansion Rochester Raging Rhinos of the A-League signed Miller. In their first season, Miller and his teammates went to both the league and U.S. Open Cup finals.  Miller finished with eighteen goals to lead the league. He finished second in points, and garnered first team All Star recognition. He would alternate between the outdoor Rhinos and the indoor Blizzard for the next several years.

Brian Martin

1994

Brian Martin, Class of 1994, to this day remains the only Roxbury athlete in school history to lead New Jersey in scoring in any team sport. As a senior in 1994, Martin's 42 goals and 42 assists gave him the state scoring title. Despite hockey's rule changes benefitting offensive play, his school record of 184 career points would stand all the way until 2018. Martin was also an All-Area selection in soccer in 1993, and played a key role in the soccer program's rise under coach Gary Irwin.

Audrey Nonemaker

Audrey Nonemaker, Class of 2004, was a first team All-State defender for coach Justin Renna as a senior in 2003. As the anchor of a defense that gave up less than 10 goals in each of her upperclassman years, Nonemaker was part of a class that won back to back Iron Hills Conference titles, and took home Morris County and Section 2, Group 3 crowns in 2003. She was also a starter on the 2003-04 girls basketball team that went 24-2 and finished 16-0 in the Iron Division. Audrey went on to play college soccer at Vanderbilt University, and now joins her older brother, Karl as a Roxbury Hall of Fame Inductee.

Jennifer Ennis

Jennifer Ennis, Class of 2006, was a key part of Roxbury's cross-country and track dynasties in the 2000s. From an individual perspective, Ennis' top achievement was winning the Meet of Champions in the 3,200-meter event with a time of 10:31.93. In cross-country, she won sectional championships as a freshman in 2002 and as a senior in 2005. In her last cross-country race, she finished 8th in the Meet of Champions. Team-wise, Ennis was part of 10 different championship squads across the three circuits that included Iron Hills Conference-Iron Division, sectional, and group titles. The 2004 cross-country team also finished with a #9 ranking in the USA. Jenn went on to run at the University of Richmond and is now a successful high school track coach in the Richmond area.

Jason Apwah

ason Apwah, Class of 2007, graduated from Roxbury as a walking record book with county records in three different events. As a junior in 2006, Apwah won the Meet of Champions title in the 800 meter race. His 800 and 1,000 meter times are still Morris County records today, and the spring 800 meter mark was also a county-high at graduation. Jason would go on to have a successful running career at Villanova University where he would become an All-American, Penn Relays and Milrose Games Champion. He is now married to fellow inductee Ashley Cromartie.

Ashley Cromartie

Ashley Cromartie, Class of 2008, was another vital part of Roxbury's cross-country successes two decades ago. In cross-country, Cromartie was one of Morris County's top runners and was a part of a nationally ranked squad in 2004 along with Penney. She won two indoor state titles, the 800 as a freshman and the 1600 as a senior, before taking 3rd in the spring Meet of Champions in the 1600 as a junior in 2007. She went on to run at the University of Maryland, and is now married to fellow inductee Jason Apwah.

Lauren Penney

Lauren Penney, Class of 2008, was a standout runner on Roxbury’s girls cross country dynasty in the 2000s. As a senior in 2007, Penney won four titles in the span of two weeks: individual and team Morris County titles, as well as individual and team Section 2, Group 3 titles. She also excelled on the spring circuit, as she was part of the legendary Championship of America Penn Relays winning squad with fellow Hall of Famer Ariann Neutts in 2008. Penney went on to run in college at Syracuse University, and an Olympic prospect while she trained professionally.

2006 4xMile team of Jenn Ennis, Lauren Penney, Kristen Stevens, Ariann Neutts won the Nike National Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina running a time of 19:58.07.  This time stood as a meet record for nearly 15 years and was one of the crowning achievements for the Roxbury squad during one of the most dominant eras in NJ high school track and field history. 

Bob Garcia

1988-2OO1

Coach Bob Garcia, Class of 1980, not only led the ice hockey program at Roxbury to success, but founded the program himself in 1988. Working from scratch, Garcia single-handedly built the Gaels into a solid program in one of the Mid-Atlantic Region’s best hockey areas in Morris County, registering a record of 110-97-2 in his 13 years. His teams advanced to the state semifinals on two different occasions, and he coached the 1994 New Jersey scoring champion, and fellow Hall of Famer, Brian Martin during his time at Roxbury.

2008 Distance Medley Relay Team of Ariann Neutts, Ashley Cromartie, Mary Migton, Lauren Penney won the Championship of America race at the historic and prestigious Penn Relays. The team finished the race with a time of 11:42.16, the 2nd fastest time ever run in the 114 year history of the Penn Relays, warding off defending champion, Southern Regional High School.  NJ.com named this race as one of the “50 greatest Penn Relays Performances'' of all time.  To date, this is the only Penn Relays Championship of America ever won by Roxbury.
