I’m Violet and I live in the middle of the Amazon Rain forest with my family. I live with my mom, dad, brother and sister. My sister, Lily is 13, my brother Bennett, is 5, and I am 10. We live in a cabin that my dad built 15 years ago. It has power and appliances though. The cabin is pretty big. My siblings and I all share a big bedroom. I have always lived hear with my family. We are not a normal family. Well we live in the middle of the Rain forest! Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to live somewhere else. But, this is where my family lives.“Violet, dinners ready” Mom yelled.“Okay, coming”, I yelled back in reply. Then I hurried down the stairs. Mom, Dad, Lily, and Bennett were already at the table waiting for me. “Yes! We are having corn on the cob and fish”, I thought to myself. One of my favorite dinners. “We have a surprise for everyone!” Dad said excitedly.“What is it?” questioned Bennett. “Tomorrow morning we are all going on an adventure. We are going to go explore the rain forest. We will leave home tomorrow morning and camp out tomorrow night. Then, we will return the next afternoon. So when everyone is done with dinner we need to clean up and pack for our trip.” Mom said happily.“I can’t wait”, I thought to myself smiling. “I can’t wait”, Lily said reading my mind. After everyone was done with dinner, we all helped clean up.Then everybody went upstairs and packed. While everyone was packing mom packed a whole bunch of food for the trip. After everyone had packed, we got ready for bed. Then, we went to bed. But of course I stayed up a little longer and read. In the morning everyone go up. When I came downstairs mom and dad were making a big breakfast! After we ate the delicious food we set out on our journey caring our backpacks on our back. “Look over there”, whispered Lily. We all looked to where she had pointed. There through the trees was a monkey. We all looked at the monkey. Everyday we saw monkeys out the windows. But this monkey looked different. “I better draw a picture of this in my book”, Bennett whispered as he got a book and pencil from his backpack. We hiked along for the next 4 hours stopping a couple times times for a snack. Dad stated, “I think we should take a break now and eat lunch. So we stopped for an hour and ate lunch. We also took some time to rest. Then we continued to walk along. As we walked we saw lots of interesting thing. The forest was so beautiful. When it was finally getting dark we stopped and ate dinner. Then we set up our tents and went to sleep. I did not get much sleep, but I got some sleep. In the morning we got up and made some breakfast. Then, we took down our tent and put out the fire that we had going. Then we sent out again toward home in a different direction than we came. We were all wowed by by the plants and animals that we saw. They were incredible. “I think we should stop for lunch now”, said Mom. “Yes!” we all said starved. We picked a stop to eat that was overlooking a waterfall. It was so beautiful. While we were eating we discussed everything that we had seen. “It is all so amazing”, stated Lily.“I know”, I responded to her. “Nature is so amazing”, said Dad.“Yes it is”, said Mom. After lunch we continued to walk, seeing more amazing things. By the time that we got home we were all tired. But we had an amazing adventure. We had seen the amazing plants and animals of the Amazon Rain forest. -Ella Soper
