Students have three opportunities to earn recognition for their work in TSA:
Regionals is Saturday, Feb. 7th, 2026, at Parrish Community High School. Only a handful of events are available at regionals, so not all students will participate.
States is March 25-28th, and has always been held at the Conference Center of the Doubletree by Universal. It is a 4 day overnight trip.
Nationals is held in a different state each year. Students who qualify and wish to participate may attend with their families.
Detailed information for each competition is below. Please direct any questions about logistics of these events to powersj@rowlettmiddleacademy.org
General Competition Info and Dress Code
Students represent Rowlett when off campus at competition. Any inappropriate behavior can result in parents needing to take their child home, and their removal from TSA.
Students are responsible for knowing the time, location, and requirements of all their own events. If this is a problem, TSA is not the club for you.
We all must abide by the rules and judgements of the events. Disrespect towards TSA coordinators or RMA staff will not be tolerated.
Competition attire is required for TSA events. This includes:
The official TSA blue dress shirt
Grey Slacks or Skirt
Black dress shoes
Optional: Red TSA tie and TSA blazer
TSA dress shirt, tie, and blazer can be purchased here: https://tsastore.mybrightsites.com/
Tie and blazer are not required, but recommended for students participating in the leadership, challenging tech, prepared speech, career prep, or cyber security events.

Regionals
Regionals is not necessary. It is basically a practice for States. Students do not need to place or participate to qualify.
As only some events are held at regionals, it's possible a student may not have an event available that day. The student may choose to not attend, or be present for the experience and to support the team.
Students will be dropped off at the location in the morning, then parents may attend the awards ceremony and take their child home after, or just pick them up following the ceremony in the afternoon. Exact times will be communicated when they are available.
Attendees should bring snacks and a water bottle. Lunch will be served at the event.
Families will be responsible for a cost for lunch and possibly a shirt (approximately $20, exact amount to be communicated when available).
States
All members are expected to compete in at least 3 events at States.
Families choose either to have their child attend with the school, riding a bus up and staying in a hotel room with three other same-sex students, or to book their own room and stay together with their child.
Mr. and Mrs. Powers will have a suite with a general area to serve as a "home base." Students can work on school work or practice for events there. No student may be in any hotel room other than their assigned room or the home base room at any time.
Students that come with the school will pay $150 for their food. The school will pay for their hotel and registration. Scholarships are available if cost is an issue. The $150 is waived for families who book their own room.
These students will bring their suitcase to school to be stored until departure. We will load the bus and depart from Orlando during the school day on the 1st day of the the conference.
We need chaperones, so if it works for your family, please consider staying in Orlando with your child and being a chaperone and judge an event. Without judges and chaperones, TSA can't happen.
Chaperones are the only adults allowed in the conference.
All parents who bring their children sign their children in to our care during conference hours, then sign them out at the end of the day. They may then do whatever they wish as a family, as long as the child is available to sign in and participate during all conference activities.

A sign-up genius for snacks and drinks will be sent out prior to the trip. Please sign up for an item or two and bring them to the office to ensure children have food and drinks available throughout the conference.
Students must be in TSA competition attire for all TSA events. Dress code and store information below.
Anyone attending awards must register, which is an $85 fee. TSA is strict about this. No unregistered guests will be allowed in to awards. To register, you will pay cash or check, made out to RMA, as we pay the registration invoice. You will receive notice when it's time to register.
All chaperones and students' registration is paid by RMA.
All State TSA information can be found here: https://floridatsa.org/state-conference/
Nationals
Nationals is a family trip. Organizing and paying for transportation and accommodations is not handled by RMA. Families may feel free to coordinate together to share accommodations and fundraise, but the school has nothing to do with this.
Children are completely under the care of their caregivers or someone you designate (For example, a child attends with parents of a friend) for the entirety of the trip. The school is not responsible for your child should you decide to attend.
After States, we will communicate which students qualify to attend Nationals.
RMA will pay the registration cost for students. Other attendees will be responsible for their own registration fee.
A parent will be designated to act as Chapter Advisor in Mr. Powers' place. This individual will not have to pay registration.
