• Paper Tutoring: From elementary English to AP physics, Paper’s tutors help every student in exactly the way they need. Tutors speak English, Spanish, Mandarin and French. Each exceptional specialist is a carefully selected, rigorously trained employee—not a contractor. Tutor managers are trained in SafeTalk and can identify at-risk students.

• Harvey Mudd Homework Hotline: Free over-the-phone math and science tutoring service for students in grades 4 through 12. They're open four nights per week, Monday through Thursday, from 6 to 9 p.m. PST. Tutors are all students at Harvey Mudd College, one of the top-ranked STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) schools in the nation, and they’re all selected for their technical expertise AND their superior communication skills. They get extra training to make sure they give you the best possible service!

• Khan Academy has videos and lessons for all grades.

•  Hippocampus has Pre-Algebra and geometry lessons and practice games. 

• Education Possible has a list of over 50 fun and interactive math games for middle schoolers.

•  Prodigy  offers fun math games for middle schoolers. Many teachers use it in class and report it turns math haters into math lovers. 

• Math TV  is like Netflix for math! Videos are broken down by skill. 

• Cool Math  offers lessons and games in pre-algebra, algebra, and pre-calculus. 

• Online Math  has games broken down by grade level from 1 – 8. 

• Math is Fun  offers lessons, games, worksheets and puzzles on all sorts of math concepts including speed and velocity, money and geometry.

• Multiplication.com  is great for middle schoolers who are a little rusty on those multiplication facts. It’s designed for elementary – high school students with age-appropriate games.

• Math at the Core: Find engaging media and integrated activities, all aligned with the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics. Designed using a culturally and historically responsive approach to engage diverse middle school students through grounding in the real world and connection to relevant issues. Produced by a collaborative of public media stations and producers with funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

• NASA offers cool space-related videos and activities. 

• The Happy Scientist  offers great videos and fun experiments to try at home.

• PBS has great videos on a variety of topics, including a series on viruses. 

• Science Buddies  has over 1,500 experiments. 

LANGUAGE ARTS RESOURCES

• Libby allows you to read library books on a phone or tablet.

• Common Lit  is a free database of passages to practice reading comprehension. 

• Soft Schools offers free printable language arts word searches, quizzes and worksheets.

• Lit 2 Go  is a collection of stories and poems in mp3 format. Kids can download and listen while going on a walk, gardening or doing chores.

• Worksheet Works  has free grammar printables.

• Scholastic offers lessons, games and free reading material for all ages.

SOCIAL STUDIES RESOURCES

• Teaching Tolerance  has lesson plans, articles, videos and activities geared at making us all better citizens.

• EdHelper  offers printable worksheets and journals on history topics and world problems.

• Social Studies for Kids  offers free curriculum in history, economics, geography, government, finance and more.
