The idea for Roversa was born in 2022 when a group of researchers and grad students from the University of Virginia and Universidad del Norte got together to share their passion and ideas for making computer science education equitable and accessible for everyone, everywhere. Key features include:
Versatile, Growth-Oriented Robotics Platform: Students can start with a stand-alone mode using directional buttons and progress to block-based and text-based programming via connected devices, allowing seamless learning from basic to advanced concepts.
User-Friendly Solutions for Educators: Easy to implement with minimal setup regardless of teachers’ prior experience with technology.
Customization & Creativity: Teachers and students can personalize the robot’s exterior with paper-based costumes, craft materials, or additional sensors, fostering creativity and ownership of learning.
Comprehensive curricular support: We provide standards-aligned lesson plans, step-by-step tutorials, and project-based learning activities available in multiple languages. We also offer professional development workshops and webinars to help teachers integrate robotics and coding into their classrooms.
