Every Roversa moves a little differently. Movement tuning, also called calibration, helps Roversa drive straighter and turn more accurately.
Calibration improves consistency, but Roversa is a hands-on robot operating in the physical world. Movement may still vary slightly depending on the floor, battery level, and how the robot was assembled. Testing and refining movement is part of robotics and engineering.
The 4 directional buttons can be pressed in any order to create a program. As you press a direction button, Roversa remembers those directions as part of your program. To run the program press the green Play button. If you wish to preview your program before running it, you can press the grey Menu button and the arrows of your current program will appear on the LED array of the micro:bit. At any point if you wish to clear the program, you can press the red Stop button. Once Roversa has completed running a program it automatically clears the code so that you are ready to begin a new program!
Roversa uses onboard sensors to help it move more accurately.
The first time you turn on Roversa, the micro:bit will guide you through the compass calibration process. Follow the instructions on the micro:bit. When calibration is complete, place Roversa on a flat surface before beginning.

Check 2: Does Roversa drive the correct distance?
Drive forward. If Roversa is not moving the correct distance for your activity, see the Distance Calibration instructions.

Turn right and turn left. If Roversa is not turning 90 degrees, see the Turning Calibration Instructions.
You can use the MakeCode extension to introduce students to more advanced computer science concepts like loops, conditions and variables, as they reprogram the buttons on Roversa.
