Classroom Expectations and Routines

Classroom Expectations

1. Be in class at or before the bell. Be seated and ready to work within one minute of the bell. Meaning that your homework has been turned in, pencil located and sharpened, notebook out and open to your warm-up, and any questions for me regarding missing work or tutoring have been asked and you are starting to work on your warm-up in your ISN. Homework is only accepted now. After one minute it is not accepted.

2. Pay attention during instruction. Track the speaker with your eyes and have your mind on what is being presented and discussed.

3. No side conversations during instruction or group work. When you are talking, your ears are closed and so are the ears of whoever you are talking with. You can't learn if you are having private conversations during instruction.

4. Raise your hand to speak/comment. Raise your hand when you do not understand!!!

5. Cooperate and participate with your group or partner during group work.

6. Wait in your seat until the teacher dismisses you after the bell. Supplies will need to be returned (picked up off the floor) and tables ready for the next class.

7. Keep your hands and feet to yourself at all times. Horseplay will immediately result in a variety of consequences from the discipline hierarchy, starting with detentions for all parties.

We will follow Cedar Ridge High School's Discipline Plan for classroom behavior issues and referrals.

Class Routine

  1. Enter the classroom on time, prepared and ready to learn. Turn in homework now. Homework will not be accepted after one minute after the bell.
  2. Start warm-up within one minute of the bell with a voice level of zero.
  3. Once in the room, students can only leave the classroom for emergencies. Please make use of your 5 minute passing period.
  4. You are expected to have a pencil or pen every day.
  5. If you are unprepared and must borrow a teachers pencil, it will need to be returned so the next class can use it. You may purchase pencils for $00.25 as well but ONLY before the bell rings.
  6. You should have your Interactive Science Notebook (ISN) with you in every class.
  7. Cell phones need to be silent and put away during class. The first time it is out I will take it and give it back at the end of class and discuss the cell phone policy with you. From then on it will be turned in to the front office. You will occasionally need your phone for assignments or review games and you will also need earbuds. Just keep it put away until you are asked to get it out.
  8. Please remain seated at the end of class until you are dismissed by the teacher.
