This year your child will receive regular guidance lessons from Ms. Austen or Mrs. Wood. Lessons focus on developmental needs in the areas of social, emotional and academic growth. As Leader in Me Lighthouse school counselors, we weave the 7 Habits into our lessons while covering important standards as determined by the American School Counseling Association. To learn more about how the principles of the 7 Habits from the Franklin-Covey Institute help develop a culture of student empowerment, please visit the https://www.leaderinme.com/.
Small group counseling takes place in grades Kindergarten-5th Grade. Most groups occur during your child's lunch time. In small group counseling, students needs are met by incorporating age appropriate activities that support the varying needs of the group. In Kindergarten and First Grade, groups might take place during instructional time with both teacher and parent permission.
Short term individual and crisis counseling is available as needed. For long term needs, we may refer families to outside professionals.
