Stock Market Project
Overview: This activity is designed to make students aware of corporations and the stock market through Internet research, buying, recording, and selling stocks of their choice over a nine week period.
The stock market played an important role in the economy and lives of the people who lived in the 1920's and 1930's. There was heavy investment in stocks at that time, buying stocks on margin, and the resulting stock market panic and crash signaled the start of the Great Depression.
Directions: In an attempt to diversify your portfolio you are to research the 25 companies that have been made available for this activity. You are to select one company from each of the following areas: Industrial, Transportation, Utilities, Technology & Communication, and Wisconsin Stocks. Use the links below to view and research real-time statistics for each of the available companies. You will have $10,000 to spend on five diverse stocks from the list below.

Vacation Getaway Project
Objective: Research and devise a detailed itinerary for a trip to the country of your choice, including a daily schedule and cost for each activity planned. Once completed, trip itinerary and map of places visited in the country will be shared and displayed in the class either on a poster board or by power point.
Materials: Preliminary Planning worksheet, calculators, construction paper or poster board, access to internet and library for research materials.
Procedure: Plan a trip to a foreign country of your choice.
Trip should be for a minimum of 7 days, cost should not exceed $10,000. While on the trip, you should visit at least one historical, one scenic and one entertaining point of interest.
The task will require you to contact airlines, car rental, hotels, etc, on the internet, to obtain current rates, consult the library or internet for information on geography, weather, and history of the areas to be visited.
Complete a preliminary plan worksheet by writing down ideas based on prior knowledge of country. Then you will begin research to find accurate, current responses to “preliminary plan questions”.
For the final itinerary, use information gathered to write a detailed schedule for each individual day of the trip, including the cost of each event (using correct conversion rates of foreign currency).
Draw a map of the country on poster board, showing all the places visited during your trip.
Make the final itinerary and map as colorful, creative and festive as possible, so people seeing them will be eager to visit these countries.
