For my 24th year teaching at Spicewood Elementary, I am proud to be continuing my the role as one of Spicewood's TAG Specialists for the 3rd year. For 15 years I  enjoyed the challenge and joy that teaching 5th grade brings and the conversations of the 5th graders. Prior to that, I spent 6 years with the 3rd graders, which is an ideal grade to start teaching as 3rd grade is such a pivotal year.

I love the connections that our campus has had the opportunities to make being a part of the IB program.  We are fortunate in that we can integrate the happenings of the world in our everyday lessons and learning.

My role as a TAG specialist allows me to collaborate with every team, build relationships with even more students, and gain the knowledge of what every grade is learning through their Units of Inquiry. I am blessed to be a part of growing students that will, at some point, make a difference in the world. This is very exciting to me!

I look forward to an awesome year with awesome kids! I feel confident that we will all learn and be better humans because of our time together!

MISS MADISON LUCAS

3rd & 4th Grade Math + Talent Development

For as long as I have been able to conjure the idea of "being something", I have wanted to be a teacher.  In my four years of being a teacher, going into my fifth, I have found that my passion is helping students be the best version of themselves and using that to change the world.

This is my second year at Spicewood and as a TAG Specialist. Prior to teaching at Spicewood, I was a 4th grade teacher at Linder Elementary school in South-East Austin in addition to teaching summer school in Manor and a summer as an Instructional Coach in Del Valle. I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas Tech University (Wreck 'em!) and currently pursuing my Masters of Education in Teacher Leadership with a focus in Gifted & Talented. I should be graduating in December of 2024. I am excited about the opportunity this role gives me to work with a diverse group of students across grade levels to grow, stretch, and strengthen their understanding of themselves and the world around them.

When I'm not teaching you can find me cheering on Texas Tech Football or basketball, camping and exploring our country's national parks, working on arts and crafts projects, or cooking something delicious!

I look forward to working with your family and helping my students develop the essential qualities of an IB learner.  Here’s to a year of growth and opportunity!
