The TSI Assessment (TSIA) is part of the Texas Success Initiative program designed to help your college or university determine if you are ready for college-level course work in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. If you are an incoming college student in Texas, you are required to take the TSI Assessment - unless you are already exempt to determine your readiness for college-level work. Based on how you perform, you may either be enrolled in a college-level course and/or be placed in the appropriate developmental course or intervention to improve your skills and prepare you for success in college- level courses.
If the student has taken ANY of the tests listed below & met required scores, they don't need to take the TSI. You must share your TSI score via Accuplacer with Round Rock ISD. See instructions above for step by step guide.
If you meet any of these criteria you may be exempt from needing to take TSI:
ACT:
a combined score of 40 on the ACT English and Reading (E+R) tests shall exempt both reading and writing or ELAR sections of the TSI Assessment.
a score of 22 on the ACT Mathematics test shall exempt the mathematics section of the TSI assessment with no composite score required.
SAT:
new scale score (after March 5, 2016) 480 on Evidenced-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW) exempts you from both reading and writing sections of TSI
a minimum score of 530 exempts you from math. There is no combined score.
Why is the TSI test important to my student?
