Student Leadership in the ARD

We believe that students should begin as early as possible (at age 3, but definitely by 3rd grade) participating in their ARD meeting to whatever extent is appropriate. Their participation can range from introducing themselves to the committee to showing pictures, PowerPoint presentations, and reading an agenda they have prepared. It is our sincere belief that the earlier students become aware of their disability, begin to learn about their strengths, and understand their accommodations/modifications, they are able to build critical self-determination skills.
