I began my career teaching Adapted PE here in Round Rock ISD in the fall of 2010. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in Education. I enjoy hiking, swimming, eating and reading whenever possible. My favorite thing about my job is having the chance to positively influence the lives of others on a daily basis.
I am a Texas State University graduate and have been working in RRISD since 2007 in both Special Education and as a Physical Education Teacher. Austin has been my home since 1988. My husband and I have four children who are all navigating their own adult lives while we enjoy the outdoors and our two dogs.
I am so excited to be part of the RRISD Adapted PE and Special Olympics Coaching Team. It's going to be a great year!
Originally from Kansas, I began my journey south to Southeastern Oklahoma State to get my degree in Advertising & Public Relations. After moving to the DFW area and working a few years in the corporate world, I decided to pursue a career in teaching, and have fallen in love with it! I began as a middle school English teacher and coach for 6 years, then transitioned into Physical Education for year 7. I had the opportunity to teach an Adapted Physical Education class, and knew there was no better place for me. I am excited to be a part of such an amazing team and be able to make a difference in the lives of my students!
I have been teaching in special education since 2013. I first started teaching in Lubbock, TX, then moved to the Austin area and have been working in Special Education and Adapted PE/Special Olympics ever since! I graduated from Texas Tech University with my bachelor's degree in 2012 and my master's in Educational Leadership from Lamar University in 2018. My favorite thing about teaching adapted PE is the connections I get to make with students and seeing them have fun and learn a new skill that they can carry with them in the future!
Hi! My name is Annie Kennedy, and I’m thrilled to be part of the Adapted PE team! I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in Special Education and began my teaching career in Leander ISD in the fall of 2020. As a proud graduate of Round Rock ISD, I love having the opportunity to serve the community that helped shape me! My favorite thing about APE is seeing the joy and confidence it brings to students as they discover their strengths and connect with peers. In my free time, I love traveling, exploring new restaurants, and attending UT football games with my husband, Joe!
Here's to another great school year!
I earned my B.A. in Psychology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and after a career in Human Resources, I decided to go back and get my M.Ed in Special Education from Texas State University. I have been teaching in RRISD since 2012 where I started as a teacher in a Functional Academic Classroom at Brushy Creek Elementary. I moved to PE Coach for two years before bringing both worlds together in Adapted PE! In my spare time, I shuffle my two sons around to their activities, walk and play with my two dogs, and spend time with my family watching movies, sports and taking the occasional camping trip.
My name is Chris Nejtek and I am thrilled to be joining the APE team in Round Rock. I received a Bachelors in Kinesiology from Concordia University and I have been teaching since 2018. I have served as a Middle School Boy's Athletics Coach, PE teacher, Inclusion teacher and Behavior teacher. I have worked in Pflugerville ISD, Leander ISD, Burnet CISD and now Round Rock ISD. When I am not teaching you can usually find me grilling, playing with our Pomeranians, or on my PS5.
Hello! I am from Eagle Pass, Texas, and I am a proud CAMP graduate from St. Edward's University, where I majored in Special Education and minored in Kinesiology. With nine years of experience as a Special Education teacher and track and field coach, I am excited to embark on my first year as an Adapted Physical Education teacher. Joining this team and being a Special Olympics coach is a dream come true for me! Outside of work, I cherish spending time with my family and attending various sporting events.
I graduated from Texas Woman's University with my masters in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Adapted P.E. in 2017 and immediately started teaching and coaching Special Olympics here at Round Rock ISD. Throughout my masters program I worked with an adapted sport organization and gained knowledge and experience in a variety of adapted sports such as: wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, adaptive water skiing and wheelchair motocross (WCMX). My husband and I are extremely excited to explore the Austin area and are always open to suggestions of places to see.
I'm a born and raised West Texan that just recently moved back to the great state! Angelo State is my alma mater where I received my BS in Kinesiology. I enjoy anything active and outdoors but skiing with my family is my favorite. Looking forward to a new year in Round Rock APE!
I have been teaching in special education for four years, previously between math and science FAC and resource. I went to school here in the district, graduated from McNeil in 2009, and then I went to college up in Oklahoma and graduated with a Physical Education degree.
