What is this? What does this mean?
We meet every year (usually in person, but as of last year, we meet online) to read some books together, talk about them, snack, stay connected, watch a video, and HAVE FUN! The four main reading selections will be assigned for specific dates/times that we meet to focus solely on those books. The seven extra reading picks can be read at anytime, and we will discuss any/all of them throughout the summer. There are also sometimes opportunities to meet authors and win prizes, too! :)
When is the Summer Book Club?
We will meet on certain Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer (and a special final meeting day). The schedule is below:
Thursdays (June 10th; June 17th; June 24th; July 1st; July 15th; July 22nd) at 2pm (central time)
Tuesdays (June 15th; June 22nd; June 29th; July 6th; July 20th) at 11:30am (central time)
Final Meeting: Monday, July 26th at 2pm
Where do we meet for the Summer Book Club?
We have a designated Google Classroom code/link for Google Meet that you can find here. This is where we will have our regular meetings: https://meet.google.com/lookup/gswrlprzqb
How do I get started?
Sign-up to participate by clicking here to register! Be sure you have your parents' permission!
Begin by purchasing whichever books you are interested in above. I highly recommend purchasing books from Red Balloon Bookshop, an independent children's bookstore in Saint Paul, Minnesota (my, Mr. Sparks's, personal favorite bookstore on the planet!) that specializes in books and literature for kids and could certainly use as much business as possible from us during these uncertain times. When ordering online, be sure to tell them Mr. Sparks sent you! :)
Plan your reading accordingly. The meetings below will be designated for each of the 4 reading selections. (As a reminder, all of the extra picks will be discussed/shared at all meetings!)
