Do the 2nd grade classrooms have safety procedures in place?

Safety is a top priority for our team. We have several procedures in place that will be taught to the kids the first day of school.

The door will remained locked at all times. Administrators and office personnel who need into our classrooms have a key. Anyone else will need to knock.
Only adults are able to answer the door after knock.
We follow a rule of "3". When students need to leave the room for any reason, they will travel in a group of 3 so that there will always be at least 1 buddy.
Our classrooms will practice the same safety drills as the rest of the school.

What is the procedure for picking up my child early?

Students must sign in/out when arriving after the tardy bell or leaving before the dismissal bell. Students who have reason to leave early during the day (such as illness/appointments) must be signed out in the front office by a parent/guardian or person listed as an emergency contact. Students may not sign themselves out and go home alone. Students will not be sent to the office until the teacher receives a call from the front office.

What is the best way to leave a message for my child?

The best way for your child to receive a message during the school days is to call the front office at (512) 704-0600. They will be sure your student receives the message before the school day is out. Leaving messages on the classroom phone or teacher e-mail is not the best option, as the messages are not always checked until the end of the work day.

What can I expect from class parties?

Public schools are regulated and restricted from serving foods of minimal nutritional value (MNV). Federal and state law (as well as district regulations) allow for specific exceptions: birthday treats, 3 classroom parties.

Round Rock ISD has identified our 3 MNV exception days as:

Day before winter break
Valentine's Day
Last Day of School

Our classroom parties will be planned by our room parents. Stay tuned for class party information.

Can we celebrate my child's birthday?

Of course! We love to celebrate each child on their birthday. Please check with your teacher for specific guidelines regarding parties.
