As my son approached the transition from elementary school to middle school, we were all nervous about how much bigger and more overwhelming everything would feel. When discussing what electives he might be interested in, we felt like something musical would be a good fit and so explored band as an option.
From the first encounters at the elective night and the instrument matching day, everything was so well thought out, explained clearly, and all the band directors and private lessons teachers were welcoming and supportive.
After two years in the Ridgeview band, my son has found a fantastic friend group and an activity that doesn't revolve around screens! He has found a joy in music and has also had incredible experiences that taught him about effort, resilience, and confidence. The added bonus as we approach high school is that he now has a group of kids that he will already know when he gets there, making the next transition a bit more comfortable as well. I highly recommend this band program and participating in it has been fantastic for my entire family.

Beginning Band has been a tremendously positive experience for my child. He had zero training with musical instruments prior to joining Beginning Band but was brave enough to embark on the journey. He was a bit apprehensive at the beginning but quickly found confidence starting with the instrument tryouts. Although he wasn’t assigned to his first preference of instrument, he’s quite happy with his assigned instrument (clarinet) which was his second choice.
He is quite proud that he is able to play a musical instrument and is often searching for new sheet music to try out and play. His confidence has grown both within and outside of the band which is a wonderful and unexpected benefit. His play has improved week-by-week and it has been a thrill to witness the progress

As a parent of two daughters (ages 11 and 14), I’ve seen firsthand how the Ridgeview Middle School band program transforms the middle school experience into something truly special. For anyone considering joining, here’s why our family is so grateful for this program:
A Built-in Community: Band helped my girls socialize and stay excited about school during these formative years. They found and developed a core group of friends that has stayed with them even as one of them has moved into high school.
Skill & Growth: The program constantly challenges them to learn new skills, creating a sense of pride in their personal accomplishments and performances. Beyond the music, they gain a fresh appreciation for all art forms.
Exceptional Mentorship: The band directors are incredible role models who are constantly encouraging, helping students navigate both music and life with confidence.
Unforgettable Experiences: My daughters have been so excited to travel and participate in everything from lock-ins and fundraisers to concerts and field trips.
A Path to Excellence: The excitement only builds as they head toward high school. Recently, the Cedar Ridge High School Raider Marching Band won the Bands of America Waco Regional Championship. Watching my former Ridgeview middle schooler succeed on that stage was a priceless moment that made every practice worth it.
If you're looking for a place where your child can grow, belong, and excel, you’ll find it here in the Ridgeview band family.

As parents, we couldn't be more proud of our child’s journey in the band program. Starting from zero experience with the Euphonium in 6th grade, our child has developed a true passion for music. The incredible support and encouragement from the program has fostered not only growth in skill but also a deep love for playing. Now, as a 7th grader in Advanced Band, our child is excited to continue growing through 8th grade and high school. We are so grateful for this amazing band program that teaches the value of hard work, dedication, and the joy of music!

My wife and I are very impressed with the band program at Ridgeview Middle School. The band directors are caring and communicative with every aspect of the band programs. We are in constant contact with Mr. Wood about events, socials and everything band related via email or sometimes even text messages.
Under the guidance and direction of Mr. Wood and the entire Fine Arts Department, our son, has thrived and learned not only to play several instruments but he has gained independence and confidence, along with a continuing aspiration to be in music professionally. He is constantly motivated by the directors and private lesson instructors to push himself beyond what he thinks is possible. Since his involvement with the Fine Arts department, (band, orchestra, and choir) our son has learned many valuable lessons and forged numerous friendships during the middle school years that will last through high school and beyond.
We have been thrilled with Mr. Wood and how much he and the other directors care for the students by nurturing their specific needs to succeed. Having the support of the entire department, I can assure any future student of the Fine Arts Department will succeed under their guidance and direction. Bravo Ridgeview Middle School Band and Fine Arts Department!!! We are truly blessed to have you teach our students!!!

There are so many extraordinary things I can say about The Ridgeview Band, starting with the amazing men who run the show. Mr. Wood is a positive force of inspiration and leadership for our young, aspiring musicians! Mr. Morey and Mr.Linscombe are fun, knowledgeable, creative and passionate. The environment these incredible young men create for the students to learn, improve and achieve is unmatched. The opportunities to grow and develop are endless for our kids in band. I’m filled with pride as my young percussionist has gone from raw skill to polished performer, all the while having a joyful and positive experience. That is not any easy feat to accomplish, yet that is our experience with Ridgeview Middle School Band.

The Ridgeview Band Program is one of the best in my opinion! The quality of instruction, structure and support the students have to learn their instrument is second to none. My wife and I have had two of our children go through this program to only see how well the growth in facility and musicality have developed in both of our children. I would highly recommend any parent that if your child has an interest in music to try out for the Ridgeview Band.

As a parent of a child in her second year of middle school band, I’ve been amazed by how much my daughter has grown. Neither my husband nor I have any musical experience, so we were unsure of what to expect and how to help guide her. From selecting her instrument to learning her first notes, the band program has helped her build confidence, discipline, and a genuine love for music. The Directors are incredibly organized, which helped us balance sports participation and band obligations.
