STARRY

STARRY provides STAR crisis intervention services to Williamson and surrounding counties. Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Texas State University Professional Counseling Program

Counseling services are offered free for youth this Fall for child or adolescent (ages 10-18) who could benefit from counseling this semester?

Counseling services will be offered on our Round Rock campus on Monday nights for five sessions. If you know of children who would benefit from counseling, please talk to their parents first. National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Programs:

Ending the Silence: a 50-minute in class-presentation specifically designed for middle and high school-aged students focused on helping them recognize the early warning signs of mental health disorders and suicide and how powerful story of living with a mental illness including the importance of positive coping skills and treatment in achieving recovery. In a recent national study about the about this program, Ending the Silence was shown to be effective in changing high school students’ knowledge and attitudes and where to get help. The presentation includes a young presenter who shares his/her toward mental health conditions and toward help-seeking. Watch a quick overview video here.

Let's Talk: Starting Conversation about Mental Health with Your Teen: a 1 hour presentation for parents of adolescents. This presentation covers talking to your teen about mental health, warning signs and reaching out and getting help.

Parents & Teachers as Allies: a 1.5 to 2-hour in-service program (up to 3 CEUs) that focuses on helping school professionals and families within the school community better understand the early warning signs of mental illnesses in children and adolescents and how best to intervene so that youth with mental health treatment needs are linked with services. The presentation team includes a parent and young adult who share their lived experience of mental illness and how schools can communicate with families about mental health related concerns.

In addition to our presentations, we also have the following programs available for parents and caregivers:

NAMI Basics: a free 6-week course for parents and other primary caregivers of children and adolescents living with serious behavioral issues or early onset of a mental health condition. Please check the registration below for class schedule.

NAMI Family Support Group: monthly support group for family members and friends of individuals living with a mental illness
