Possible Misconceptions & Errors to Avoid

Students may not understand that percent means “per 100” or how many out of 100.

 Example:   0.3 is NOT 3%;   3.4 is NOT 34 %;   0.03 IS 3%. and 0.3 IS 30%

Students may pronounce decimals without the concept of place value making FDP conversion difficult.

Example: Students read decimals incorrectly by saying one point five instead of one and five tenths.
