When your child comes to music class, we learn many songs to discover rhythms and solfa notes. We explore the note through many different activities before the eye sees the musical symbol. In the process, students are having fun playing music games without realizing they are preparing to learn a rhythm or solfa element. After a music concept is presented, students practice their discovered rhythm and/or solfa note in many different ways, such as reading, writing, improvising, playing the concept on instruments and hearing it in the context of music listenings (ex: classical music).
It is my hope that your child will have fun when they come to music class and begin to recognize there are connections to music everywhere! Their eyes will see Music has connections to Math, Science, Geography, History, Writing, and more!
