Grading and Behavior Policy

Old Town Fine Arts Grading Policy

Kindergarten, First Grade & Second Grade

The students receive 2 separate grades in Fine Arts. One for skill development and one for classroom performance (participation, effort and behavior).

In both areas the following rubric is used.

MS – Met Standard

AS – Approaching Standard

LP – Limited Progress

Third Grade, Fourth Grade & Fifth Grade

The students receive 2 separate grades in Fine Arts. One for skill development and one for classroom performance (participation, effort and behavior).

Skill/concept grade

There will be 3-4 grades given in each area (Music & Art) per nine weeks based on concepts learned and completed projects.

Participation grade

This grade is given based on participation, effort and behavior in class.

In both areas the following rubric is used.

“E” – Excellent

“S” – Satisfactory (this is the standard grade given)

“N” – Needs improvement

“U” – Unsatisfactory
