Laurel Mountain Elementary Physical Education

Hello Lions! I know you are all finding ways to stay active and healthy. Hope you're having a great start to your year!

Welcome all Laurel Mountain students and families! We are all so excited to be here and ready for another enriching school year. As I begin my thirteenth year here at LME, I'm excited to see familiar smiling faces as well as many new ones, and here about your summer adventures.

This summer I spent much time with my family, very little travel, and a lot of relaxing. I hope you did too. My husband John and I spent time working on our golf game and working in our yard making new pretty spaces. We will continue enjoying time together with our two dogs, getting exercise every day. We also started a tradition of playing Farkle every night after dinner. What activities does your family do together? We are excited to be able to watch Texas Longhorn football again this year. We've always been Texas Longhorn fans, but we've learned how to hold up our "Wreck 'em Tech" signs for the Texas Tech Red Raiders since both of my daughters have both graduated from Texas Tech.

Exercising has always been part of my life whether through team sports or exercise. As a Jazzercise franchise owner for many years in Cedar Park, I found sharing group exercise with my adult students fulfilling. However, I've experienced an even greater satisfaction working with LME students in Physical Education.

My goal as a Physical Education teacher is to help children develop a love and respect for their bodies through exercise and educating them about healthy lifestyle choices. I strive to live by example, teach with energy and enthusiasm, and create a safe enriching environment for all.

Here's a note from Coach Jerry

Hello, I am Jerry Taylor. I am very excited to be at Laurel Mountain Elementary school. I am very passionate about P.E. and teaching children how to be active and healthy for a lifetime. Outside of school I coach soccer for Barcelona Academy Austin. I grew up playing soccer in the central Texas area. I also like playing basketball with my friends and watching the San Antonio Spurs. When I'm not coaching soccer I love to try new foods and restaurants. My favorite foods are ramen noodles and cheeseburgers. I have two siblings. My younger brother is a junior at Texas A&M and my sister is 8 years old. She is in the third grade. All of us still play soccer to this day.
