Spheres of Influence

This group project was influenced by the structure of a DNA helix. The sculpture is built from hollowed out balls that are stacked and put on top on one another. My group had originally planned to create a twisted structure to resemble the helix. But due to gravity and difficultly getting the balls to stay put, we all decided to create a arched figure. The structure was built with the use of metal support and lots of scorching. The colors behind the piece were meant to be simple as the sculpture itself is detailed and we did not want the color to distract too much from the piece.
