Kidshealth.org has a helpful article about the decision to take your child to see a therapist, finding the right one for your family, and different types of practitioners and types of therapy.
If you are searching for a counselor in the community for your child or family, below is a list of a few community resources you may find helpful. You can also find referrals from your child's pediatrician, by calling your insurance, or through your Employee Assistance Program (EAP) if you have one. Please make sure to do your due diligence and make sure that the counselor is someone you feel is the right fit for your family.
You may also find the National Institute of Mental Health's guide for when to seek help for your child and first steps to take (with downloadable fact sheet) helpful.
