When I met with my counselor at the end of my freshman year and signed up for a spot on the newspaper staff, I didn't expect to end up loving the reporting process so much. What was a small interest in reading and writing became a passion, filled with late after-school sessions editing stories or all-nighter's writing my next big feature story. Now, as an editor, I hope to become even more involved with the process, mentoring other developing writers and helping to create a product that the entire community will anticipate each month.
Although feature stories make up the majority of my work in the Prowler, I occasionally write editorials, but still have a long way to go with news stories. I am most usually found in the Academics, Clubs or Opinions sections, covering intriguing class projects or the obscure (but enjoyable) clubs on campus and the people behind them. As for the Opinions section, the subjects are always different.
Hey guys, my name Nayeli Torres. I'm a senior. I first started writing when I was young to tell stories about my childhood so when i get older I would have something to look back on. The stories I tend to write are features because I love to write about people who have interesting stories to tell.
Hi! My name is Tess Howicz and I’m a junior IB student. I love to write and make up stories. I also love animals and hope to own at least one dog and cat when I graduate. I found my love for writing during my freshman year when I joined journalism 1. I only really had a small interest for writing at the time and I honestly thought I wasn’t very good at it. Then I wrote my first ever article and Mrs. Nichols thought it was good enough to be in the actual Prowler! I was so ecstatic that I devoted the rest of my freshman year to learn as much as I could about journalism. For the next year, I joined Newspaper and the Stony Point journalism UIL team. I hope this year and next year I start winning UIL competitions and make it to nationals. My dream is to become a professional journalist and become a writer for a famous newspaper like The New York Times or The Washington Post. I also hope that one day I will write and publish a bestselling book.
