We have several opportunities for 5th graders to learn about the transition to middle school. The following are the traditional events and will be updated and modified as the year progresses.
February-March:5th grade students visit Cedar Valley Middle School to view the elective showcase. This show will introduce the 5th graders to their elective choices for 6th grade.
February-March: Next year’s 6th grade counselor, will visit with the 5th grade students at Great Oaks Elementary School to help them register for 6th grade.
March:Parent information meeting for parents of 5th grade students
March: Registration paperwork is due back to their 5th grade teacher. (If you are planning on moving to a different school, Cedar Valley would still like your child to turn in the paperwork just in case plans change.)
August: JAG Camp is held after new student registration for all new 6th graders to have the opportunity to participate in transition activities. They receive their scheduleand locker. Students have an opportunity to walk their schedule and meet their teachers.
