CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

This class is a high school course. The good news is that, when you pass this class, you will receive a high school (passing grade = 70%). However, since this class follows high school curriculum, the expectation is that you will perform at the high school level.

Students are to be seated and ready for instruction when the bell rings. Food and drink are allowed near the computers. Electronic devices are allowed when doing independent student work only. Absolutely, no texting or phone calls without approval from the teacher. Be respectful to your teacher and show regard to others as well as the equipment in our classroom. All students are expected to follow the RRISD Student Handbook policies.

In order to have a fun and productive year, I expect that each student will conduct him or herself in a manner appropriate to the classroom environment. A good attitude is vital. We cannot get the work done that we need to get done if you do not have a good attitude. In addition, respect for the classroom is critical. We will be working in a computer lab environment, so we will need to take care of our equipment. Furthermore, I expect that each student will come to class prepared to learn. Students must take care of personal matters (e.g. restroom breaks, talking to friends) before class starts.

CLASS PARTICIPATION

In order for all students to enjoy and learn from this course, student participation in classroom discussions, special projects, and group work, in addition to the individual assignments, is a necessity. Regular and punctual class attendance is mandatory. You cannot participate if you are not in class. You are expected to attend for the full class period. The instructor has the right and responsibility to document excessive tardiness and absences in fairness to the students who are in class and on time to class each day.
