Hello! My name is Susana Fletcher, and I love teaching English at Round Rock High School. I've been a Dragon since 2015, and every day, I walk through the school doors with a ridiculous smile on my face. I am a life-long learner, a curious observer of the universe, and a big fan of words. (There’s a word for that: logophile.) Being part of RRHS is an honor, and I do not take lightly the charge of contributing to your child’s education.
I believe in equitable education, and allowing students to bring multiple forms of cultural and social intelligence to the classroom so the real work may begin. Teaching starts with loving students, listening to them, valuing them, and helping them feel safe enough to bring their magic to the classroom.
I look forward to speaking with you individually, and I welcome your communication.
Sincerely,
Susana Fletcher

The classroom is a safe and positive learning environment, free from judgment and negativity. It is a place where we will learn and grow together, wrestle with relevant ideas, and create meaningful argument. It is a practice ground and microcosmic example of the adult life and workplace, as students progress in the trajectory toward independence. Students are expected to work hard, persevere through difficult tasks, and strive for excellence in all of their assignments.
Students should expect to learn individual responsibility for their education, to search for inner motivation to succeed, and to appreciate the intrinsic value of the learning process.
Etiquette:
Greet Mrs. Fletcher every class day as you enter the room.
Respect the space of the classroom, and all of its contents. Work areas and walking areas should be kept clean and free from debris.
Always be kind to one another, and demonstrate mutual respect.
Conflict resolution should take place before or after class, in a respectful manner.
Attendance:
If a student is absent, he or she should look on Mrs. Fletcher’s website for the classroom agenda, and request any applicable handouts. Tutorial time is a beneficial time to make up missed lessons following an absence, but is not required.
Classroom procedure:
Students should come to class prepared to learn, and bring with them all of their tools for success, including pencils with erasers and school-issued computers.
Upon entering the classroom, students should look at the front screen for instructions and begin to gather all supplies for the day's lesson. Students are expected to be seated and prepared when the bell rings.
Class work is expected to continue until the bell rings at the end of the period, and students should remain seated and working until that time.
Writer’s notebooks (composition books) will be kept in class bins, and should not be taken home.
Chromebooks should be brought to class every day. Computers should only be taken out at designated times, and used for designated purposes. Music streaming, online games, and multiple browser windows will not be tolerated.
Cell phones:
Cell phones should be silenced and placed out of sight.
Headphones should be placed out of sight.
Cell phones are not allowed at any time during the class period unless explicit permission has been given. (This is rare.)
Mrs. Fletcher reserves the right to amend this page, with proper notification to the students, at any time during the school year, as the need becomes apparent.
