My name is Ms.Adkar and this will be my 18th year teaching middle school Science, and my 9th year at Deerpark Middle School.

I was born and raised in Canada where I went to University and had a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.  Initially I was a 7th and 8th Grade Science/Technology and Mathematics Teacher for 5 years in Toronto, Canada. After getting married in 2004, we moved to New York and then Maryland where I taught 8th Grade Science for 1 year.  This is also where my oldest son was born in 2006.  He graduated from Westwood High School a year ago and is attending the University of Toronto in Canada where he's starting his second year in Mechanical Engineering.

Later in 2006 we moved to Austin, Texas where my second son was born in 2009.   He will be in 11th grade this year at Westwood HS. I then taught 6th grade Science in LISD where I was the Department Chair for 3 years.  

I've been involved in various extracurricular activities in my career such as a Girls Basketball Coach, Student Council, Math Club, Homework Club as well as a Dance Club.  For 2 years at Deerpark I have coached Cross Country and held a monthly Science Club.  I served as a Team Lead for Team 6-3 for 2 years along with 6th grade Science PLC Lead for 2 years.  I also was a Science UIL coach, Early Teacher Mentor for 2 years now and this is my 4th year as the Science Department Chair.

I'm looking forward to an amazing year teaching 6th grade Science and Accelerated Science!
