About

Hello and welcome to my class page!

My name it Katelynn Brown I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! Here is a little more about me.

I graduated from University Of Houston with my Bachelors in Elementary Education.  This is my Third year here at DFT and I have loved being a part of this amazing community.

I  lived in Houston most of my life, go Texans! About 4 years ago I moved here to the Austin area to be closer to family.  This March I will be getting married to my Fiance Hunter we are so excited for this celebration we have been waiting for! We  have the most adorable cat named Smokey who I love to incorporate into my teaching. When I am not teaching I enjoy cricuting, playing video games, collecting Pokemon in every way possible and spending time with my family. I absolutely adore celebrating and decorating for holidays anytime and everywhere.

I am looking forward to an amazing year here at DFT and having the opportunity to be apart of your child's first grade journey!

1st Grade HFW word list document

A  few games/activities you can play with a few words at a time are below:

Memory

Make your own card deck with two of each word.  Shuffle and place the cards face down in rows.  When it's your turn, turn over two cards and try to get a matching pair.  If you don't have a match, turn the cards back over.  The winner is the player with the most pairs.

Go Fishing

Write words on an index card and put a paperclip on the top of the card. Tie a magnet to a string and tie the string around a pencil.  Ask Kaylee to fish for words by touching the magnet to the paperclip on the correct word you call out.

Magic Words

Write words with a white crayon and use a dark marker to color over the word written with the white crayon.  Watch the word appear after you color over it with the dark marker.
