About Me

Teaching background - While going through college I was a teacher at a pre-k school. Once I graduated I got the first job I could get which was teaching 5th grade in Del Valle. I told my principal at the end of the year I wanted to move down and the next year I taught 3rd grade. I asked her again to move down and she said no, so I MOVED. I wanted to teach Kindergarten! I ended up getting a job in the Pflugerville school district teaching Kindergarten. Here I was able to flourish and try out so many ideas on how to teach effectively. I was growing enough in my teaching to know I could do more! I began to look for a position that would allow me to follow my passions and fuel innovation in the classroom. I landed here at LME and am SO EXCITED to be here.

Educational Background - I grew up all over the place. I only went to the same school twice (4th and 5th grade, and high school). Every other year I was in a new school. Most of my time however was spent in Dallas/Fort Worth area. When I finished high school I had received a full ride scholarship to the University of Alabama and attended there for 3 years then moved to Austin and finished up at Texas State University. I am currently going to grad school for educational leadership and principal certification at Texas State University.

Educational Philosophy - I will include all children in hands on outdoor learning through the Project Based Learning model while encouraging their social and emotional growth.

Things about me - I have adHd (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). Everyone who has this has it a bit differently. With this I am able to focus VERY WELL if I am allowed to MOVE while I am doing the required activity. When I am forced to sit still I will very quickly become uncomfortable and my mind will wander. Since diagnosis I have learned ALL ABOUT IT and I now know how to manage it through exercise, healthy diet, and sleep.

I love disc golf! When I travel anywhere I always bring my gear so I can play at the local courses. I play 2 or 3 times a week. I have a wonderful 3 year old dog. She is a Blue Heeler named Ava. She is a working dog so getting her out on the disc golf course is great for her too. My favorite place in the whole world is Barton Springs.

I love my family! My parents got divorced when I was young and so my family is BIG. I have 3 brothers from my mom who all live in the Fort Worth area. I have a brother and a sister from my Dad and step-mom. They live in South Austin.
