CRHS Orchestra Wins UIL Full Orchestra Sweepstakes!: The CRHS Full Orchestra earned a Sweepstakes at UIL on Tuesday, March 3rd! This group is made up of Orchestra and Band students who rehearse together outside of school every week. Sweepstakes is the highest honor a group can receive at UIL. Congratulations to these students for their hard work!
Congratulations to the Cast & Crew of Legally Blonde-10 GAHSMTA NOMINATIONS! Cedar Ridge is so proud to announce and congratulate the cast and crew of Legally Blonde for their 10 Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Nominations (GAHSMTA)! : Best Production, Best Ensemble, Best Technical Execution, Best Scenic Design, Best Lighting Design (Student Designer - Chase Barron), Best Musical Direction, Best Choreography, Best Direction, Best Supporting Actress (Hannah Sedlacek), Best Actress (Sadie Dickerson) The winners will be announced at this year's awards ceremony at The Long Center on Wednesday, April 15th. We are SO proud of these students and their hard work on this year's musical production of Legally Blonde!
We are so very proud of our dancers on Royalty and Nobility for an amazing contest this weekend. Royalty performed 26 routines, 13 solos, 1 duet, and 1 small ensemble! Nobility does just one contest and 2 routines in the JV category. Below are the results of tremendous hard work! For Royalty to get an Academic Award on top of all of these routines and practices to manage is beyond telling of the work of these dancers and the leadership of their directors.

Here are the results of the Region 13 North VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event) that was held here at CRHS this past Saturday. The CRHS visual art teachers are proud to announce that CRHS had a ton of entries and our students received many regional medals. Cedar Ridge Students Make Texas-All-State Band! We are thrilled to recognize four members of our Cedar Ridge Raider Band who earned the honor of being named a member of the Texas All-State Band this past Saturday. Their audition process began with competing against individuals from the North Austin region in early December and qualifying for the audition this past weekend to compete against other individuals from the south Dallas, central Texas, and East Texas regions. As an All-Stater, they’ve placed themselves amongst the top 4% of high school student musicians in the state of Texas. Our Raider Band 2020 All-Staters are: Percussionist Kylee Bankston, Bassoonist Abhay Khanna, Percussionist Caleb Lewis, Percussionist Rahul Shaji. Congratulations on this incredible achievement!
Reflections Update: A big thank you to all those students who participated in this year’s PTA Reflections Art program. A total of 14 entries were turned in, 7 of which went on to compete at the PTA Council level yesterday. Although none of our entries advanced to the state competition this year, we did have two Award of Excellence winners - congratulations to Jane Gann and Lucas Pizzirani for receiving this top honor in the visual arts and literature categories, respectively. We had two Award of Merit winners - congratulations to Vaidehi Phirke and Tiffany Holland for receiving this honor in the literature category. We also had three Honorable Mention winners - congratulations to Ojas Phirke who participated in the literature category, and Kate Portillo and Nyla Portillo who participated in the visual arts category. All of these students will be recognized at the RRISD Council of PTA’s Reflections Award Ceremony. It will be held at the Cedar Ridge Auditorium on Monday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. We are so proud of all our Reflections participants and look forward to next year! Eliot Lam, sophomore at CRHS, has made All-State Orchestra! Eliot is a violinist in the Symphony Orchestra here at CRHS and he placed into the All-State Sinfonietta Orchestra. This group will perform at the TMEA Convention in San Antonio on Saturday, February 15th, 2020 at 2:00 PM. We are very proud of Eliot for his hard work throughout an extremely competitive process. THE BAND RECENTLY FINISHED THEIR COMPETITIVE SEASON AT BOA SAN ANTONIO, RECEIVING 15TH PLACE IN THE MOST COMPETITIVE BAND COMPETITIONS IN THE NATION!
The CRHS Art Club created three 10ft x 10ft artworks at Dell Diamond on Saturday. Out of 12 possible awards given out, we won: 2nd place for Best High School for Hannah Mendelsohn's original "Bird stealing a RR Donut" and "Best Masterpiece" for the Art Club Officers rendition of Tretchikoffs' "Chinese Girl." A total of 23 students helped for 3 hours on Friday night and 8 hours on Saturday. AMAZING job CRHS Art Club!!!!
