How to do Kindergarten: Parent Information
Arrivals
Doors open at 7:15am and children need to be in their classroom by 7:40am.
Due to school safety policies, you will say goodbye at the door and a teacher will welcome your child into the building.
If you would like to hand off your child directly to a Kindergarten teacher for the 1st 5 days of school, we will be on the Carlwood side of the school from 7:20-7:40. If your child is a bus rider, staff members will meet them at their bus and escort them inside. Once we have Kinder Independence Day, your child will walk into school on their own. There will always be staff members inside to help escort any children.
Please put one of the provided labels on your child on the first 5 days of school. Labels are in your child’s Welcome Walk Bag.
Backpacks
Please send your child with a regular size backpack every day. It should be large enough to fit many items at the same time, such as a weekly folder, a 9x12 book bag, a library book, and a lunch box. Due to limited cubby space, please do not buy backpacks with wheels.
Please check your child’s backpack every day.
Meals
Your child may order or bring lunch from home. Children will make their lunch choice in the classroom by 8:00am. If your child arrives after that, they will have limited choices.
If your child is bringing lunch from home, please boldly label your child’s lunch box or containers with their first and last name. Please do not send in soft drinks (sodas).
We will eat lunch daily at 11:10-11:40.
Snack Time
Please send in 1 snack everyday, labeled with your child’s name, for our snack time.
Please place the snack in a different place in their backpack separated from their lunch (ex: outside zipper of backpack).
Snack time is 15 minutes long. Please do not send an excessive amount of food.
Water
Water fountains and a water filling station are accessible to students.
Please send a water bottle with your child and make sure that it does not spill or leak when tipped over.
Departures
At 2:50 the Kindergarten teachers will walk students to their dismissal spots.
Please be at your designated pick up spot by 2:45 if you are picking up your child.
If you need to change the way your child is going home, please inform your teacher asap. If you don’t get a response back from your teacher, please call the office to inform them of the changes so we are sure to get the message.
Students not picked up by 3 p.m. will wait in the main office and the parent/guardian must come into the building to sign for the student.
