Hello 3rd Grade Parents,
On Monday, April 13th, we will be starting a recorder unit. Each student will have their own recorder. I would like for you to purchase a recorder for your child because I would like to be extra cautious about germs, and it is exciting for a child to own his/her own recorder and possibly practice at home. Students may use a recorder and/or book from an older sibling or family member instead of purchasing one.
Below, you will find links to three recorders that are options to purchase. Each recorder comes with a case and a fingering chart, however the Peripole recorder comes with a zippered case and a neck strap. Each one is a reasonable price and works just the same, so purchase what is comfortable for your family. Feel free to order with a group of parents to save on shipping costs.
Peripole Baroque Soprano Halo Recorder: only on Peripole website
Yamaha YRS-24B Plastic Soprano Recorder (any color)
Harmony H-100 Soprano Recorder: only at West Music
I would also like for you to purchase a method book; it is linked below (I included a couple of vendors in case one sells out). There are optional versions of the method book with a CD included. I am only requiring the book, but there are links to the version with the CD if you would like to buy one:
Essential Elements Method Book
PLEASE have your student’s recorder and recorder book purchased/acquired NO LATER than April 12th, and have your student bring their materials to school the week of Monday, April 13th.
It will be the student’s responsibility to bring their recorder and book to music class each week. I would recommend your student keeps it in his or her backpack. Recorders will not be delivered by the front office after 7:35. If a student forgets their recorder, they will do a substitute activity.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at nicole_pagliai@roundrockisd.org.
