GRADES 3-5

The Texas Bluebonnet Award Program is optional for all 3rd-6th grade students in the State of Texas. Each year a new list of 20 books is nominated for the award by Texas Librarians.  Students who choose to read 5 or more of the current nominees by January 20, 2026 will be invited to a Bluebonnet Breakfast and will get to vote for their favorite Bluebonnet book. 

In addition, RRISD hosts an annual Battle of the Bluebonnets. Students who read 10 or more nominated titles by February 20, 2026 can compete for a position on our CRE team.  

Authors LOVE receiving the Texas Bluebonnet Award because students decide the winner!  Please consider participating to make an author's day!
